Here's What You Will Learn:
- How to develop fine motor-skills and strengthen hand-eye coordination. Playing a musical instrument helps stimulate and hone your senses. It can lower stress levels by picking up an instrument as a hobby.
- How to enhance cognitive skills such as improve decision-making abilities, strengthen problem-solving skills, sharpen visual-processing skills and lengthen attention span.
- How to express yourself musically, gain confidence by learning new skills and techniques. Build perseverance and patience by learning each technique and building each music pieces to a high standard, then learn to appreciate the satisfaction of reaching each milestone of learning.
- The repertoire of pieces is categorised into a range of grades for the students to experience as they advance in their learning. It helps them to track their level of progress on their instruments.
- We will monitor each student's progress and follow up with lessons they need help with. We do have annual assessment to track students' learning, prove to parents their improvement. We will discuss and work together with parents on how to deal with the kid's weaknesses based on their pace.

What is CIMS Approach to Teaching Music?
- Individualized Learning - By understanding the learning needs of each student through diagnostic test, we are able to establish appropriate goals, learning strategies and tailor a curriculum to attain them, one step at a time. Teachers coordinate the speed of learning so that the student can learn at his/her comfortable pace.
- Self-Directed Learning Habits - In which students take responsibility for their own learning goals and outcomes. Through the program, students are put in an environment of LEARNING AT THEIR OWN PACE with ongoing guidance of our teachers, you will be able to achieve this goal.
- Immediate Feedback through Coaching - Our teachers will guide students to build up academic abilities by solving problems one after another on their own through necessary coaching rather than spoon-feeding.
- Small-Steps Approach - All materials are arranged in small steps in order to prevent a learner from stumbling as much as possible. They are organised into different levels that facilitates smooth progress for all learners.
- Mastery Learning - Students develop academic skills and confidence through necessary repeated practices to increase their accuracy and speed. In an environment where they are allowed to learn at their own pace, students have the opportunity to master the understanding and skills of the instrument. This then leads to MORE CONFIDENCE and OWNERSHIP OF THEIR OWN LEARNING and hence a greater interest in the subjects.

About Us
Established since 2018 in Singapore, Chinese Instrumental Music School (CIMS) was founded to give a whole new complete learning experience like no other for its students. Our two founders are local musicians who have trained multiple award-winning students, shining at various local and international platforms.
In CIMS, we recognize that the musical potential and personality of each student is unique. This is why we value the relationships and connections created between teacher and student.
Our music curriculum has helped over 100 students develop their instrumental skills, confidence and creativity in a fun and interactive way. Over 80 students have achieved grade 5 and above certificates for Instrumental Performance. 15 students have successfully gotten into their preferred choice of secondary schools through Direct Schools Admission (DSA) exercise, using their experience and skills on the instruments they are learning.

Our Teachers
Our teachers hold Music qualifications from schools such as Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
They are actively involved in the current music scene and are musicians of various well-known orchestras and ensembles.
Our teachers have been teaching for a minimum of 5 years each in their respective specialised instruments, both as private tutors as well as school CCA instructors.
CIMS Music Education is not all just about learning music. Through music education, our teachers are committed to nurture each student to become life-long learners and effective communicators, who hone soft skills such as resilience and diligence.
